Jackie Korman, ISES LA President

Wow! Spring is here and does ISES LA have the fever!

Our 2nd annual Fundraiser was March 26th and was fabulous! It will be the talk of the town for months to come. We had over 250 guests, lots of super auction items thanks to our generous members and ISES LA friends. Plans are already being made for next yearās event and it will be filled with surprises. What a team we have in place.

Many exciting ISES LA events will be happening this summer including our giant Joint Allied Mixer Wednesday, 8/21/02 at 20th Century Props in North Hollywood. Did you check out the cover photo in the May Special Event Magazine? It's ISES LA's beautiful Allied Mixer from last year! Get on board now for this August's event by signing up for an exhibit space today by getting a sign up sheet from our website (www.ises-la.com) or by calling Jeff Anderson, Party Pals at (858) 578-6667x14. Another date to save is August 2-5th, 2002 for ISESā Conference for Professional Development in Sydney, Australia. If you want to continue and further your education as a Special Events Professional this is a must! The Sydney Chapter is pulling out all the stops to make this convention the most productive ever. If you have any questions about this you can always contact Debbie Hawkins, at the ISES LA office or me at (818) 569-3838 or jaynqueen@aol.com. Everyone that is a member should have received his or her packets already and it is filled with information ö let us know how we can help.

I am so very sad to report the passing of ISES International's Treasurer, Bob Blaesing, CSEP. Bob was a huge contributor to the ISES organization as well as a wonderful person. He will be missed by all who knew him.

As always, I continue to thank your Board of Directors for the great job they do on a daily basis ö As President, they always make ISES LA and me look good! Please know that I am always around if you have suggestions, thoughts about your chapter or just want to chat. We all learn from each other and I always like to hear from new members.

Thanks once again for a great 10 months as your President. Itās been a wonderful experience for me and I look forward to continuing on as your President next year.

See you at our meeting next Wednesday, May 15 at The Mission Club in Malibu!

Have a great month!!

Jackie, Abbey Event Services

Let's Meet May 15 At The Mission Club, Malibu

Unlike the 1930s, drinking in a judge's chamber today might well get you thrown in the pokey. But not this May 15. We'll be sipping Zone Vodka at the Old Malibu Courthouse's antique Monks Bar during our monthly ISES meeting without a judge in sight.

This beautiful, warm Malibu venue, built-in 1933, is renovated to hold 125 people at weddings, corporate presentations and luncheons catered by Good Gracious! Events. It's been rebuilt to its original mission style and filled with period antiques. The original Malibu Tile has been restored as well. And, while the women's jail has been removed, the men's jail remains open for visitors.

According to Maxine Banks of Good Gracious! Events, "It'll knock your socks off." Hors d'eouvres and a fantastic buffet dinner will be served. The event starts at 6:00 PM and runs to 9:00 PM.

ISES will dine on the fabulous creations of Good Gracious!Events. Many thanks to our showcase companies for the month including Abbey Event Services, BBJ Linens, Good Gracious!Events, and The Mission Club, Malibu.

IMPORTANT REMINDER - A new member orientation will be held starting at 5:00pm. If you are a new ISES member, a special events professional thinking about joining ISES or an ISES member who wants to hear about your ISES benefits - please join us! Call Michele Fox at (818) 612-9517 to let her know your planning to attend.

If you would like to register, visit our web site at www.ises-la.com.

Thank You to Creme de la Creme and [seven-degrees]

What a fabulous host venue we visited last month. It was great to see all of our Orange County members come - over 90 in attendance! It was a beautiful day in Laguna and [seven-degrees] treated us like royalty. We look forward to many more fun events in Orange County.
