Message from the President by Marty McGowan, CMP

As I reach the end of my term as your president, it is difficult not to reflect on the many successes this yearâs board has achieved. However, ãwe ainât done yet!ä.

Next month on Wednesday, June 20th we will have our first-ever FUN fundraiser at the Petersen Automotive Museum - Cars & Guitars. Work is underway to make this one of the most spectacular events ISES-LA has ever produced. Many creative items have been donated and many more are needed. Please send your much-needed donation to the ISES-LA office soon. The benefactors of this inaugural event will be the chapterâs educational programs, the chapter Scholarship Fund, created this year, and most importantly, Angel Harvest. Angel Harvest is a group that takes left-over food directly from hotels and special events, to name a few, and legally and safely, gets that food to those that need it the most·the homeless and the hungry. Letâs all make sure this event is successful and show the community that the special events industry cares and is willing to make a difference. I, personally, have worked with Angel Harvest in the past and my clients have always felt a tremendous contribution to the community in doing so.

In July, we will be presenting the Installation and Awards Ceremony at the exciting California Science Center, with many surprises. It will be an event you wonât want to miss. In addition to the inaugural presentation of ISES LA's ãMember of the Yearä and ãFirecracker of the Year (up and coming special events professional)ä there will be many more awards and recognitions, celebrating the achievements of the past year. Please watch your e-mail for nomination forms for these awards.

We will end the year and begin the new year with an expanded Allied Mixer at Universal Studiosâ Globe Theatre. If you attended last yearâs Allied Mixer at the Santa Monica Museum of Flying, be prepared to ãkick it up a notchä. Universal Studios Hollywood is planning to pull out all the stops and make this a truly spectacular ISES-LA event!!! An opportunity to showcase your company and itâs products and services to even more Allied Association members than ever before will set the stage for next year.

Please join me in welcoming your in-coming President of ISES-LA, Jackie Korman of Abbey Event Services (our Strategic Partner), to another spectacular year for ISES-LA.

ISES LA's Spotlight Strategic Partner of the Month - Abbey Event Services

Abbey Event Services has been providing quality rental equipment and services since the name was first used in 1924 when they were Abbey Rents. From those beginnings, the company grew to establish a reputation and recognition few companies can match today. The name Abbey has become synonymous with the standard for special occasions.

At Abbey, quality means meeting or exceeding customer's expectations. This commitment to excellence is why they have such a loyal client base who always comes back.

While the ideas for your next special event are still developing, call Abbey. They'll work with you to make your "premier event" into a "blockbuster!" 818-569-3838.

Jackie Korman has been a loyal and invloved member of ISES-LA for many years, as a result of her involvement she has been nominated to serve as our President next year. We look forward to the success that all of her experience and dedication will bring to our chapter.

Her hard work as an Account Manager with Abbey for the past seven years has made her one of the most successful members of the Abbey team along with her VP of Operations, Tom Gifford.

ISES at the Equestrian Center
ISES LA's May event was a great success! The Equestrian Center provided over 80 attendees with a tranquil and serene backdrop for our monthly meeting. It made for a nice get-away after a long day of work, as well as a nice opportunity to sit down and catch up with our industry friends. Our charity for next month's fundraiser, Angel Harvest, attended and showed us the worthwhile work they do. It made us more aware of how the special events industry, ISES LA and YOU can help their important cause. ISES LA Past Presidents were acknowledged for their commitment to making our chapter grow and flourish. These leaders had the foresight to get us to where we are today and where we are heading tomorrow - and we are grateful for their continued involvement! Thanks to all of you who continue to support ISES, and each other, to build strong and beneficial industry relationships. Our incredible members make ISES the resource that it is!
