A New Year Begins...
A Message From The ISES LA President, Ilona Hobbs

As your new President, I am honored and thrilled to accept the gavel from Jackie Korman, President for the last TWO terms! She leaves us with a solid foundation, a fabulous board consisting of both experienced board members, and knowledgeable new board members. I am certain this combination of leadership will guide the Los Angeles chapter to even higher achievements.

My vision for the Los Angeles chapter is to EDUCATE, ENGAGE AND EXPAND our ISES LA membership. Ronnie Jayne, First Vice President, will be my teammate in executing our vision.

A major goal for ISES and ISES LA is to EDUCATE special event professionals, which we all embrace. In supporting this goal, I hope to establish with our Education Director, Tobey Dodge, CSEP, a great education program that will be easy to attend by those interested. I also encourage all the members to seriously consider elevating the professional image of our industry by pursuing your CSEP designation. A study group is currently under way and new ones will be ongoing. Please join in and pursue this worthwhile career goal. For more CSEP information visit our website at www.ises-la.com or call Carol Rosen, (310) 471-8989 for more information.

I hope to ENGAGE our members by continuing to hold great monthly mixers with tremendous networking opportunities. We request more members to get involved, join committees, and take ownership of your Los Angeles chapter. Contact Ryan Zynger, Programs Director (213) 744-2668 or Becky Nance at (310) 275-8820, Co-Director, to help out!

We are making great strides in our growth and we are now the second largest ISES chapter in the world. We are hoping to EXPAND our area to include our neighbors to the south (Orange County) by sharing more events there and being a mentor chapter with the goal of establishing their own chapter shortly.

If you haven't booked your booth at the Joint Allied Mixer, August 13th at Sony Pictures Studios - do it right away! These spots are selling quickly! Where else can you visit with ISES, MPI, ABC, NACE and HSMAI members all in one evening! 90 booths and hundreds of attendees await you - get your booth location now by clicking JAM exhibit registration form! Attendee registration will be out shortly.

I look forward to seeing everyone at both the Installation Dinner at the Petersen Automotive Museum this Wednesday, July 16 AND at the exciting Joint Allied Mixer - both will be INCREDIBLE events!!

President, ISES-LA

June Mixer-View From Atop LA

June Mixer-LA's 360 Degree View

By Brian Leslie, Visionsinlight.com

It was Metropolis in the sky at last months mixer. Windows Restaurant and Lounge, aka Windows Steaks and Martinis, located on the 32nd floor of Transamerica building in downtown Los Angeles, set the scene. This 60's style supper club, with it's 360-guest capacity and 12,000 square feet, is a perfect spot for an intimate, fun filled event, day or night, with a view as far as the eye could see, well, on a clear day anyway... however, as day moved into night the 360-degree view was indeed breathtaking.

Starting off the evening was a forum presentation on creating events in a new safety-conscious environment. Then the bar was the place to be, serving up colorful VOX Vodka martinis. Within the ambiance, like any good cocktail lounge, the smooth sounds of jazz made it ideal. And just in case you needed a little air, an aromatic oxygen bar was just a step away. We then made our way to the buffet, which included an excellent Caesar Salad and Chicken Marsala. It was a dining experience equal to this view of the City of Angels. The linens were a beautiful choice; rounds draped in Terracotta and Golden Bichon and the buffet dressed in Chocolate Lamour.

Here are some of the hard working showcasers for this high in the sky event:
Venue and Catering - Windows;
Education - Bob Estrin's Creative Events;
Entertainment - A Song For You Production and Socal Oxygen;
Libations - Future Brands;
Linens and Rentals - BBJ Linen;
Photography - HM&P Digital Event Photography
