A Message From President Ilona Hobbs

The Board has just completed its 2003 annual retreat and we are very excited about the results. We have developed ideas to implement the following goals:

- Have a minimum of four education sessions to be conveniently scheduled before monthly mixers. The subject matter of each session will be pertinent to the special events industry and will be of interest to both seasoned and new event professionals.

- ISES-LA is the second largest chapter in the world and has one of the best retention records. While we are proud of this achievement, we are committed to continue the trend and expand our numbers!

- It is our priority not only to develop local LA member benefits, but to keep you informed as well!

- We are exploring the possibility of adding to the list of 'specialty' programs such as the Fundraiser and Joint Allied Mixer. At the same time, we'll continue to produce quality monthly mixers.

While the Board is committed to these goals, there are only 13 of us. We are in need of YOU - talented chapter members who are willing to join one of our active committees. Step up to the plate, help your board keep Los Angeles an outstanding and successful chapter. All interested members, please contact us at iseslosangeles@aol.com.

President, ISES-LA

July Installation Dinner - ISES-LA Changes Drivers

July Installation Dinner - A Smooth Leadership Transition

By Brian Leslie, Visionsinlight.com

It was time for the annual Installation Dinner, swearing in a new President and distributing some well-deserved awards. July brought us to the Petersen Automotive Museum for a one-of-a-kind look at the cultural unification of the driving machine, soul of a city and man's infatuation with the automobile. The museum is packed with hot rides and even Hot Wheels! The Petersen Museum naturally lends itself to four-wheeled fun in a sophisticated high-tech environment. The multiple floors are spacious, making any event a reality.

The evening went full throttle with fabulous food, live entertainment and a changing of the guard. Fearless, two-term President, Jackie Korman passed the Gavel to our new LA Chapter President, Ilona Hobbs. Ilona was honored and excited to move forward and achieve new goals with ISES-LA.

If you missed Platinum Special Events and Catering's incredible cuisine including the papaya & brie cheese quesadillas or the Thai curry marinated breast of duck hors d'oeuvres, then you simply were not paying attention. The salmon in a lobster, tomato, tarragon sauce and chicken saltimbucca were excellent as well. Libations came from blocks of ice and spinning blenders - so appropriate for this hot summer evening.

Congratulations Ilona and thank you Jackie for your efforts on behalf of ISES LA!
