A Message From President Ilona Hobbs
It has been a busy month for ISES LA and
myself.
Ronnie Jayne, First Vice-President, and I were
afforded the
opportunity to attend this year's ISES CPD in
Minneapolis. It
was an outstanding opportunity to learn about the
achievements, progress and future goals that ISES
International has in place; acquaint ourselves with
leaders of
ISES chapters around the world; to chat one-on-one
with the
Chapter Presidents of the Western Region; and, last
but not
least, to get to know the Western Regional
Vice-President,
Robyn Hadden. I also had the honor of presenting to
the
International Special Events Education Foundation a check for
$700 (raised during our fundraiser) towards their first annual
report.
All in all, it was a terrific experience that I would
encourage members to have at least once during their special
event career. I came home with a briefcase and head full of
ideas, inspirations, and determination to foster the Greater
Los Angeles Chapter into being an award-winning chapter.
On my return, I joined the rest of the ISES LA volunteers
to assist with set up for the Joint Allied Mixer. No one can
imagine the pride I felt at this year's JAM. Everything from
the positively glamorous Sony Pictures Studios, to prestigious
exhibitors, to the throngs of attendees, was outstanding. We
ARE an awarding winning chapter! A huge thank you to Jeff
Anderson, Marty McGowan, CMP, Lisa Dawson, CMP and Carol
Rosen. The ISES LA Board, the volunteers, the exhibitors, and
the over 500 attendees made the JAM an unforgettable success.
Another great opportunity to expand your education and your
networking is coming around the corner - The ISES Western
Regional Conference Cruise, November 7 through 10, launching
on board Carnival's Ecstasy from the Port of Long Beach. The
speakers include the reknowned Joe Jeff Goldblatt and Steve
Kemble, the newly elected President of ISES International.

The Jam was a blast and a huge success! Under a beautiful
stary night in the heart of Culver City, Sony Pictures Studios, provided the perfect venue for this year's Joint

There were fabulous treats and libations at every turn,
cutting-edge products and services throughout the venue, and
exciting entertainment all night, including a bit of
mind-boggling magical illusion and great music on the JAM

tremendous event and exhibitors came from as far as San Diego
