A Message From President Ronnie Jayne

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
(Sing to the tune of "My Way")

And now, the end is near
My term as Pres-i-dent is ending.
It's been a thrilling year
And so my thanks, to you I'm sending--
We worked "Sharing our Strengths"
And made events, in such a swell way
That we should all be proud
Of ISES-LA.

Committees and the Board
You did your all; I am your praiser --
From JAM, to Membership,
To non-stop fun, Idol Fundraiser.
Eventworld coming soon
You've all stepped up, and so I kvell
Yiddish for "swell with pride."
Notice the lengths I go to just to
rhyme this thing!). May... I say, we'll show our best!
That's ISES-LA!!

We've got a great meeting with San Diego and Orange County, and of course our Installation of the new board with the bright and talented Carol Saunders as our 2005 - 2006 President. LA's amazing JAM is coming up August 9, kicking off Eventworld on our own home turf August 11 - 13. ... And don't think you're rid of me yet! ... As newly elected Western Regional Vice-President 2005 - 2006 I will do my best to convey our needs and concerns to ISES International. Get involved -- It's worked for me, and it will work for you! Thanks again to all of you for a terrific year!

Sincerely with hugs,

Ronnie Jayne
President, ISES-LA

May Monthly Meeting at the Museum of Tolerance
by Jeff Anderson, Party Pals

Last month’s ISES-LA meeting was held at the Museum of Tolerance on Pico Boulevard in Los Angeles.

Opened in 1993, The Museum of Tolerance is a high tech, hands-on experiential museum that focuses on two central themes through unique interactive exhibits: the dynamics of racism and prejudice in America and the history of the Holocaust - the ultimate example of man’s inhumanity to man. The museum takes these two subjects and forces us to confront them head on and understand them in both historic and contemporary contexts, but also in a wonderfully educational and experiential way.

Since it’s opening, the museum has hosted over 3.5 million visitors from around the world, as well as nine heads of state including King Hussein of Jordan, three Prime Ministers of Israel, and the Dalai Lama. The museum receives about 350,000 visitors annually including over 100,000 children.

Special thanks to our May showcase companies: The Museum of Tolerance and Pat's Catering.
